Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor resident condition and communicate changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive nutritional needs
• Document care delivered accurately and timely in resident records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
• Create a safe, comfortable environment and help prevent falls and injuries

Qualifications

• Active GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Ability to complete background check and drug screening as required
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Proficient in safe resident transfer and mobility techniques
• Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
• Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced care setting
• Observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
