Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and communicate changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive nutritional needs
- Document care delivered accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Create a safe, comfortable environment and help prevent falls and injuries
Qualifications
- Active GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Ability to complete background check and drug screening as required
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Proficient in safe resident transfer and mobility techniques
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and documentation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced care setting
- Observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
