Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor residents' condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and clearly in resident records
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure hydration and nutrition needs are met
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident comfort and safety
- Help create a warm, engaging environment that promotes social interaction and emotional wellbeing
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Infection control practices and hand hygiene
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Effective teamwork and communication with nursing staff and families
- Observation skills to notice subtle changes in residents' status
