Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
• Monitor residents' condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and clearly in resident records
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure hydration and nutrition needs are met
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident comfort and safety
• Help create a warm, engaging environment that promotes social interaction and emotional wellbeing

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
• Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
• Safe transfer and positioning techniques
• Infection control practices and hand hygiene
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Effective teamwork and communication with nursing staff and families
• Observation skills to notice subtle changes in residents' status
