Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions and assistive techniques to promote independence
• Assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and track progress toward functional goals
• Deliver hands-on therapy and train patients and families in activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document clinical care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
• Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on therapeutic approaches and home programs
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) credential
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or equivalent)
• State licensure or registration in West Virginia if required by state law
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with diverse patient populations
• Previous experience in rehabilitation or similar settings preferred

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (required)
• COTA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of occupational therapy principles, ADL retraining, and therapeutic techniques
• Skilled in patient assessment, treatment planning, and outcome measurement
• Proficient documentation and electronic health record charting
• Ability to adapt interventions for varying ages and diagnoses
• Team-oriented approach with strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize caseloads effectively
