Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions and assistive techniques to promote independence
- Assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and track progress toward functional goals
- Deliver hands-on therapy and train patients and families in activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document clinical care accurately and timely in the patient record
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
- Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on therapeutic approaches and home programs
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement
Qualifications
- Active COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) credential
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or equivalent)
- State licensure or registration in West Virginia if required by state law
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with diverse patient populations
- Previous experience in rehabilitation or similar settings preferred
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (required)
- COTA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of occupational therapy principles, ADL retraining, and therapeutic techniques
- Skilled in patient assessment, treatment planning, and outcome measurement
- Proficient documentation and electronic health record charting
- Ability to adapt interventions for varying ages and diagnoses
- Team-oriented approach with strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize caseloads effectively
