Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in delivering individualized treatment plans that help patients regain independence
- Implement therapeutic activities and interventions to improve daily living skills and functional outcomes
- Document patient progress and treatment responses accurately in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure the best patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home programs and adaptive strategies to support continued progress
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required, or eligible
- Active California registration/licensure for COTAs required or able to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working in varied clinical settings and adapting to changing schedules
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; team-oriented mindset
- Previous COTA experience preferred (1+ year ideal), but new grads with strong clinical training are welcome to apply
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or related field required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for activities of daily living and functional mobility
- Skilled in patient assessment, adaptive equipment recommendations, and treatment implementation
- Proficient with documentation standards and electronic medical records
- Ability to instruct patients and caregivers in home programs and safety techniques
- Familiarity with infection control, safe transfer techniques, and patient handling
