Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect and prepare surgical instruments to ensure patient safety and surgical efficiency
• Perform prep-and-pack and sterilization processes following department protocols and regulatory standards
• Receive and process vendor trays accurately and promptly
• Manage sterile stores duties, including picking and preparing case carts for the OR and other units
• Float within Sterile Processing (Decontam, Prep & Pack, Sterile Stores) to meet departmental needs
• Demonstrate and maintain SPD competencies through orientation and ongoing training
• Communicate effectively with OR staff, managers and vendors to support smooth surgical operations
• Adhere to hospital dress code and full surgical attire while on duty

Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPDT certification required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience preferred
• Comfortable working with Ortho, Trauma, Arthroscopy, Spine, General Surgery, DaVinci XI, ENT and Urology instrumentation
• Detail-oriented, hardworking and adaptable mindset
• Willingness to float within the SPD department across Decontam, Prep & Pack, and Sterile Stores/case carts
• Able to respond to on-call requests within 30 minutes
• Driver's license must be submitted (60-mile radius requirement) and available in-state for the week of orientation

Education

• CRCST or CSPDT certification (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument decontamination, inspection and sterilization processes
• Prep & pack workflows and case cart management
• Vendor tray receiving and processing procedures
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Strong infection control practices and OR instrument knowledge
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
• Good communication and teamwork within a fast-paced OR environment
• Ability to learn and demonstrate SPD competencies
