Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, assisting with ADLs such as bathing, dressing and feeding
- Monitor residents and document changes in condition, promptly reporting concerns to nursing staff
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment
- Support individualized care plans and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet resident needs
- Maintain a clean, safe and dignified environment for residents at all times
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families and colleagues to promote excellent care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
- State certification or eligibility to work as a GNA in Maryland
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening and required immunizations
- Strong communication skills, empathy and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a certified GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and activities of daily living
- Familiarity with basic documentation and charting practices
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Infection control, safety protocols and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
