Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care across the lifespan — neonates through geriatrics — with compassion and clinical excellence
• Manage and titrate mechanical ventilation and noninvasive ventilation support safely and effectively
• Perform bedside bronchoscopy assistance and bedside spirometry with attention to detail
• Administer and monitor high-flow oxygen therapy and advanced respiratory modalities
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and communicate clear handoffs to the care team
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and department leads to optimize patient outcomes
• Float between units as needed to meet patient care demands and maintain continuity
• Support emergency responses and participate in unit-specific training and orientation

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS required
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• NRP and PALS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Driver's license required at submittal (used for radius verification)
• Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and floating across inpatient areas
• Willingness to follow department policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail policy) and participate in orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Experience with bedside bronchoscopy assistance and bedside spirometry
• Familiarity with high-flow devices (Airvo2) and noninvasive ventilation (Vision Bipap, V60, V30, Respironics S/T)
• Exposure to ventilator brands: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Carefusion used for Heliox and NICU)
• Comfortable charting in EPIC
• Excellent teamwork, time management, communication, flexibility, and adaptability
• Ability to care for patients across acuity levels in an acute inpatient setting
