Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy services under the direction of an OT to help patients regain independence
- Implement treatment plans and therapeutic activities that address ADLs, mobility, and functional goals
- Document patient progress timely and accurately in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and caregivers to ensure coordinated, person-centered care
- Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, home programs, and equipment use
- Monitor and maintain therapy equipment and supplies to ensure safety and readiness
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) required
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care
- Able to follow treatment plans, document thoroughly, and work well in a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment
- Willingness to complete any facility-specific orientation and required trainings
Education
- Associate degree or accredited OTA program completion preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy techniques for ADLs, transfers, and adaptive equipment
- Proficient in clinical documentation and outcome tracking
- Skilled in patient safety, positioning, and fall prevention strategies
- Ability to adapt activities to varied cognitive and physical levels
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
