Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate resident care
- Ensure timely assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident needs
- Monitor resident outcomes and proactively address quality-of-care concerns
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing personnel to maintain excellence
- Lead regulatory readiness—prepare for surveys, inspections, and audits with confidence
- Develop and drive QAPI initiatives to continuously improve care and resident experience
- Manage nursing documentation practices to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Participate in facility leadership and strategic planning to advance resident-centered care
- Promote and enforce infection control, safety, and risk management programs
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
- Active Michigan nursing license required at time of submission
- CPR certification (required; documentation requested)
- Infection Control certification (required; documentation requested)
- 3-5 years Director of Nursing experience in long-term care required
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience with Matrix is a plus
- Prior DON or Nurse Manager experience preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

- Nursing leadership with a hands-on, mentoring approach
- Long-term care expertise and resident-centered care planning
- Regulatory compliance knowledge (CMS and state requirements)
- Quality assurance and QAPI program development
- Staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management
- Infection control best practices and safety protocols
- Accurate nursing documentation and clinical oversight
