Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using age-specific data and perform ongoing, accurate physical and psychosocial assessments
• Implement individualized critical care plans and participate in multidisciplinary care planning to achieve optimal outcomes
• Monitor ICU patients closely, interpret labs/tests, and document observations and responses to interventions
• Provide patient teaching and discharge planning to support recovery and reduce readmissions
• Assist and mentor colleagues in providing safe, high-quality patient care
• Ensure clinical documentation meets organizational standards and regulatory requirements
• Operate within Cerner EMR to chart care and communicate with the broader care team

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (Nursys must state Active Illinois/IL license)
• Minimum 2+ years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Current American Heart Association ACLS (must be active within 30 days of start)
• Completed skills checklist (current to 1 year) pertinent to ICU — document required
• Two supervisory reference forms with dates employed — documents required
• Provide permanent address (applicants within 50 miles of facility are not eligible)
• Open to facility-specific requirements (recent direct employees within last 2 years may be ineligible)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and advanced ICU monitoring
• Patient assessment and clinical documentation excellence
• Laboratory and test interpretation for acute patients
• Multidisciplinary care coordination and effective communication
• Experience using Cerner EMR
• ACLS and BLS protocols and resuscitation skills
• Patient education and discharge planning for complex cases
• Strong situational awareness and ability to work under pressure
