Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments to guide safe, effective care
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, balancing therapy and medication
• Manage psychopharmacologic therapy, monitor outcomes, and adjust regimens as needed
• Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, and therapy teams to deliver coordinated care
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for acute psychiatric needs
• Document encounters clearly and promptly in the patient record to support continuity of care
• Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to program development and quality improvement

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
• Active or eligible for an active California medical license (physicians must obtain CA licensure prior to practice)
• Valid DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA registration
• Demonstrated experience working with psychiatric populations in inpatient or forensic settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Education

• MD or DO in Medicine with completed Psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based treatments
• Experience with risk assessment and crisis management in acute care settings
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting treatment plans
• Culturally sensitive approach and ability to engage patients from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent collaboration skills to partner with nursing, therapy, and correctional staff as needed
