Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Monitor residents and report changes in condition promptly to licensed nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Support mealtime assistance and basic feeding needs while respecting resident preferences
• Foster a dignified, respectful environment that promotes independence and comfort
• Maintain infection control standards and a clean, safe care environment
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required or able to obtain
• Comfortable working night shifts and in long term care settings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Background check and any facility-required screenings must be cleared

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Familiarity with safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Comfortable with charting and documenting care accurately
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
• Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes effectively
