Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized Level III NICU nursing care to critically ill newborns with skill and compassion
- Implement, coordinate, and document comprehensive neonatal care plans
- Manage neonatal ventilators and noninvasive support including CPAP and Vapotherm
- Administer and monitor neonatal IV therapy, manage IV lines and TPN safely
- Lead and supervise CNA/SNA and LPN staff, providing clear direction and mentorship
- Respond effectively in code blue and resuscitation events using NRP protocols
- Maintain professional nursing standards and keep skills checklists up to date
- Communicate clearly with families and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience required
- BLS (AHA) current
- NRP current
- Staffing agency submissions must include current Illinois Nurse Agency License
- COVID-19 vaccination required (no declinations permitted) — please include vaccination status in submission notes
- Resume with all facilities listed, skills checklist (less than 1 year old), and 2 supervisory references (completed within the last year)
- Active license verification must be less than 30 days old and certifications must be active at time of submission
Knowledge & Skills
- Neonatal ventilator management including CPAP and Vapotherm
- Advanced neonatal IV/TPN management and central/peripheral IV lines
- Neonatal resuscitation and code blue response (NRP)
- Level III NICU clinical assessment and critical care
- Accurate clinical documentation and use of skills checklists
- Leadership, supervision, and team communication with CNA/LPN staff
