Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered therapeutic interventions under the supervision of an OT, helping patients regain independence in activities of daily living
• Implement treatment plans and adapt activities to meet individual cognitive, physical, and sensory needs
• Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive strategies, and injury prevention
• Document progress, outcomes, and plan updates accurately and timely in the clinical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Recommend and train patients on adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to improve safety and function

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure in Vermont; ability to obtain VT licensure if not already licensed
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Experience working with adult or medically complex populations preferred
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related allied health field
• COTA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of therapeutic techniques for ADLs, transfers, and mobility
• Comfortable with patient assessment, goal-setting, and implementing individualized treatment plans
• Skilled at documenting clinical progress and outcomes in electronic health records
• Ability to recommend and instruct on adaptive equipment and home safety strategies
• Excellent interpersonal skills for teaching, motivating, and collaborating with patients and the care team
