Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (per diem schedule; specific days vary)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with mobility, transfers and safe patient handling to promote dignity and safety
- Support mealtime assistance and monitor nutritional intake as directed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies at all times
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working nights and providing care for older adults
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic resident care and assistance with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Taking and reporting vital signs accurately
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Familiarity with charting/documentation and following care plans
- Understanding of infection prevention and resident safety practices
- Teamwork and effective communication with nursing staff and families
