Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute hemodialysis care for adult inpatients, ensuring safety and clinical excellence
• Monitor and interpret EKGs and patient telemetry to detect and respond to changes quickly
• Operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with nephrologists, ICU/telemetry teams, and interdisciplinary staff on individualized patient plans
• Administer and document treatments, medications, and patient responses accurately and timely
• Educate patients and families about dialysis treatments, goals of care, and post-treatment instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Hawaii RN license required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• Current BLS/HCP and ACLS required
• Two or more years of full-time Acute Hemodialysis (Acute HD) staff RN experience required
• One or more years of full-time Telemetry or ICU staff RN experience prior to Acute HD preferred
• Specialty certifications (CNN, CDN) highly desired
• Must pass EKG exam with 80% or greater during orientation
• All licenses and certifications must be valid through the duration of the contract
• Compliance requirements must be completed no later than 10 days prior to the contract start date

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute hemodialysis clinical skills and familiarity with dialysis machines and supplies
• EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Critical care fundamentals from telemetry/ICU settings
• Medication administration and IV/vascular access management
• Clinical documentation, care planning, and interdisciplinary communication
• Infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency response skills
• Ability to work efficiently in large medical center environments (500+ beds, Level 1 Trauma Center)
