Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to PCU and ICU patients, managing complex diagnoses with confidence
• Operate and manage ventilators and all ICU-level infusion drips while monitoring patient responses closely
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication across the team
• Float between St. Joseph Medical Center and regional facilities as needed, delivering consistent care across units
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Adhere to established ICU/PCU nurse-to-patient ratios and ensure safe staffing practices
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training, mentoring less experienced staff and supporting a positive team culture
• Respond to emergencies and use ACLS protocols when required to stabilize critically ill patients

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Washington or eligible to obtain WA licensure
• Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care, ICU, or PCU (travelers required to have 2 years in specialty)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Comfortable with ventilator management and ICU-level drips; PCU drips include cardizem, nitro, insulin, heparin
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
• Willingness to float between units and facilities in Region Two
• IABP or CRRT experience is a plus but not required

Education

• Active RN (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision-making
• Ventilator management and respiratory support knowledge
• Proficient with infusion/IV drip titration and pump safety
• Familiarity with telemetry and patient monitoring systems
• Solid med-surg foundational skills for flexible floor coverage
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients' families
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable with EPIC electronic medical record
