Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor med-surg neuro telemetry patients, responding quickly to changes
• Administer medications and safely titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
• Manage PCA pumps and troubleshoot common pump issues
• Perform hourly rounding and maintain excellent responsiveness to patient needs
• Document accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with charge nurses, tele techs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Support patient flow by managing multiple admissions and discharges smoothly
• Deliver culturally competent care for diverse populations, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speakers
• Complete unit orientation and demonstrate skills proficiency via the open-book orientation exam (90% pass required)

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit license) and clean background — no license or background hits
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred, ideally MedSurg/Telemetry
• Driver's license required at submittal (used for radius verification)
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage PCA pumps
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and tele-awareness responsibilities
• Travel nursing experience preferred but strong local candidates will be considered

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing or Nursing diploma required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and critical thinking in a med-surg neuro population
• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition awareness
• Medication administration, IV drip titration, and PCA pump management
• Charting and documentation in EPIC
• Hourly rounding, patient advocacy, and excellent communication
• Familiarity with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
• Teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to manage a busy unit with multiple admissions/discharges
• Cultural sensitivity and language support for Spanish, Karen, and Burmese patients
