Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients on the Respiratory unit, including COVID-positive admissions
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect and respond to changes in patient condition
• Manage ventilator and respiratory support needs in collaboration with respiratory therapy and the interdisciplinary team
• Float to Med-Surg areas as needed, delivering skilled care in wound care, stroke, oncology, cardiac, observation and ED/Med-Surg boarder settings
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in Epic EMR — proficiency required from day one
• Participate in handoffs and team communication to ensure safe, continuous care across shifts
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with empathy and clarity

Qualifications

• Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of recent Telemetry and/or Stepdown nursing experience — must be able to read telemetry on day one
• Current Epic EMR proficiency required (no refresher or 1:1 training options available)
• Prior night shift experience and ability to work 12.5-hour nights
• Comfort with floating between Respiratory and Med-Surg units as needed
• Ability to pass competency evaluations on arrival; candidates unable to demonstrate required skills may be terminated

• Respiratory care principles, ventilator basics and infection control for COVID patients
• Med-Surg nursing skills including wound care, stroke and oncology familiarity
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization and rapid assessment abilities
• Effective communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary teams
• Patient education, discharge planning and family-centered care
