Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert intraoperative nursing care for surgical and procedural sedation patients across the lifespan
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to infection prevention standards
• Anticipate surgeon needs and manage surgical instruments and supplies efficiently
• Monitor patient condition continuously and intervene promptly for safety and comfort
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthetists and the perioperative team to ensure smooth case flow
• Perform accurate, timely documentation and handoffs to support continuity of care
• Educate patients and families about perioperative processes and discharge expectations
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with OR policies

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license required upon submission
• Healthcare Provider BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Minimum one (1) year recent perioperative nursing and operating room experience
• Comfort working with patients of all ages from pediatrics to elderly and across multiple surgical specialties

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and intraoperative patient care
• Skilled in sterile technique, instrument handling and surgical case preparation
• Proficient in patient monitoring and recognizing intraoperative changes
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgical teams
• Familiarity with perioperative documentation and electronic medical records
• Ability to prioritize, stay calm under pressure and respond to emergencies
