Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered direct care on MedSurg and Telemetry units
• Monitor patients closely and report telemetry/clinical changes to the nursing team
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and mobility
• Support admissions, discharges and transfers smoothly during night shifts
• Document care accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with RNs and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality care
• Adapt quickly as a floater between Mercy Downtown and Mercy Southwest to meet unit needs

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in the state of California
• BLS (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience, with MedSurg and Telemetry exposure preferred
• Comfortable with night shifts and floating between units and a sister facility about 6 miles away
• Able to complete a 12-hour orientation and comply with facility credentialing

Education

• CNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias and clinical trends
• MedSurg clinical fundamentals and safe patient handling
• Charting experience in Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills during high-acuity night shifts
• Time management and prioritization during busy shift periods
• Basic emergency response and familiarity with BLS protocols
