Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, helping maintain dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and document vital signs and resident status accurately and promptly
- Support safe transfers, mobility assistance, and ambulation with proper technique
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in resident records and communicate changes to the care team
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Promote a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Engage residents with respect and empathy to support social and emotional wellbeing
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent certification where applicable
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- State-required certifications or licensure as applicable
- Experience in geriatrics or long-term care preferred but enthusiasm and a caring attitude are welcomed
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
- Basic medical terminology and vital sign monitoring
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Infection control and sanitation best practices
- Comfort with documentation and electronic medical records
- Time management, observation, and clear communication skills
