Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) safely and respectfully
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and observable changes in condition
• Help with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention using safe resident-handling techniques
• Communicate important changes and observations clearly to the nursing team and charge nurse
• Support individualized care plans and participate in resident care conferences when needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, following infection control practices
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through compassionate communication

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or state-equivalent CNA certification (required or as per state regulations)
• Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program and demonstrated competency in basic nursing tasks
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work well in a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/CNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, measuring output, safe transfers
• Knowledge of infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
• Resident-centered care with an emphasis on dignity and respect
• Comfortable charting and documenting observations accurately
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
