Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Shift Type: Night, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC). Specific days vary and will be confirmed with the facility; primarily overnight/night shift schedule.
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) safely and respectfully
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and observable changes in condition
- Help with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention using safe resident-handling techniques
- Communicate important changes and observations clearly to the nursing team and charge nurse
- Support individualized care plans and participate in resident care conferences when needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, following infection control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through compassionate communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state-equivalent CNA certification (required or as per state regulations)
- Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program and demonstrated competency in basic nursing tasks
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work well in a team
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA/CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, measuring output, safe transfers
- Knowledge of infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
- Resident-centered care with an emphasis on dignity and respect
- Comfortable charting and documenting observations accurately
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
