Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care on a 1:5 med-surg/telemetry assignment and deliver 3:1 PCU care when assigned
- Manage IV therapy and drips confidently and safely — drip experience is required
- Serve as charge nurse when scheduled: coordinate unit flow, assign staff, and troubleshoot operational issues
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and intervene early to support positive patient outcomes
- Float to inpatient units as needed while staying within your scope of practice
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hospitalists and specialty clinics, to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate documentation, complete required skills checklists, and meet profile submission requirements
- Support emergency response and escalation processes in a small critical access hospital setting
Qualifications
- Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN — must be uploaded with profile
- Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
- Minimum 2+ years current medical-surgical and telemetry experience (required)
- Charge nurse experience (required) — please note charge experience on your profile
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (strongly required)
- Minimum 3 months prior travel nursing experience (required, non-negotiable)
- ICU and critical access hospital experience (preferred)
- Must have reliable personal vehicle and permanent address listed in profile
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)
- Current skills checklists for PCU, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry (to within 1 year) included in profile
Knowledge & Skills
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) workflows and monitoring
- Medical-surgical nursing best practices and patient assessment
- Telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
- IV/drip management and safe infusion pump use
- Charge nurse leadership: staffing, triage, delegation, and unit coordination
- Ability to float across inpatient units and adapt to a small hospital environment
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with skills checklist requirements
- Effective communication and teamwork in time-sensitive clinical settings
