Shift Type: Night shift, 12-hour nights (typical 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM); schedule varies (rotating nights/weekends possible). 36 hours/week guaranteed. Must be willing to float to Med/Surg or Post-Partum as needed. Note: very small unit; limited requested time off (RTO) approval — 3 days or less; block scheduling not accepted.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients (up to a 1:3 ratio) and their families
• Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and document clearly
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital policy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory and IV therapists to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to clinical changes and emergency situations with calm, evidence-based interventions
• Support rooming-in parents and facilitate a child-friendly environment using in-room activities and the playroom
• Float to Med/Surg or Post-Partum when needed, applying adult med-surg skills as required

Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN License (must be uploaded with profile)
• Minimum 3 years of current pediatric nursing experience (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• Skills Checklist Pediatric and Skills Checklist Medical-Surgical, current within 1 year (required)
• Own reliable vehicle for this assignment (required)
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred — please note on your profile
• Adult Medical-Surgical experience preferred (to float)
• BSN preferred

Education

• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and developmental care skills
• Comfort with small-unit practice and independent decision-making
• Ability to manage a maximum census of 3 patients with safety and efficiency
• Experience with Meditech Expanse (preferred) and clinical documentation best practices
• IV therapy, respiratory support coordination, and collaboration with specialty therapists
• Excellent communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Dependability and professionalism in a setting with limited call-out tolerance
