Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
- Monitor and record vital signs and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention by using proper transfer and lifting techniques
- Accurately document resident care and communicate observations to ensure continuity of care
- Create a warm, respectful environment that preserves resident dignity and independence
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (state-specific) is required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care preferred, new grads who are eager to learn are welcome
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a team-player attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and elder care best practices
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Hands-on skills for basic patient care: bathing, dressing, feeding, transfers
- Accurate charting and documentation habits
- Strong observational skills and the ability to communicate changes in condition
