Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility to preserve dignity and comfort
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerns promptly to nursing staff
• Provide compassionate mealtime assistance and monitor dietary needs
• Maintain clear and timely documentation to support continuity of care
• Support safe transfers and positioning, using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment
• Build meaningful rapport with residents and families to enhance emotional well-being
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep everyone safe

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Comfort working with geriatric populations and individuals with varying care needs
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program and active certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful, person-centered approaches
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident handling
• Basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs and observing changes in condition
• Good documentation practices and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
• Ability to follow care plans and instructions from licensed nurses
