Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility to preserve dignity and comfort
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerns promptly to nursing staff
- Provide compassionate mealtime assistance and monitor dietary needs
- Maintain clear and timely documentation to support continuity of care
- Support safe transfers and positioning, using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment
- Build meaningful rapport with residents and families to enhance emotional well-being
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep everyone safe
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfort working with geriatric populations and individuals with varying care needs
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program and active certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful, person-centered approaches
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident handling
- Basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs and observing changes in condition
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions from licensed nurses
