Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful direct care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team to coordinate care
• Follow infection control practices and facility safety protocols at all times
• Contribute to a warm, home-like environment that promotes resident well-being

Qualifications

• Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility health/immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skilled in personal care, safe resident handling, and infection prevention
• Good observational skills to recognize changes in condition
• Comfortable with documentation and basic charting
• Team player who communicates clearly with residents and staff
• Able to manage time and prioritize tasks in a busy care setting
