Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, helping with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Assist residents with activities of daily living to preserve dignity and independence
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention efforts during daily activities
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely to keep the care team informed
- Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
- Communicate kindly and clearly with residents and their families to build trust
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required)
- Completion of an accredited GNA or nursing assistant training program
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience caring for older adults is a plus; compassion and patience are essential
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening and any required health checks
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Assistance with ADLs (activities of daily living) and basic mobility support
- Infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation
- Good observational skills and attention to detail
- Teamwork, time management and respectful communication
