Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure resident comfort during meal times
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Follow infection control procedures and facility safety protocols
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to create a warm, home-like environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Previous experience in long-term care or working with older adults preferred
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet local regulatory requirements
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of elder care needs and common geriatric conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Good documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently during night shifts and escalate concerns appropriately
- Teamwork mindset and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
