Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Monitor and document resident condition, including vital signs and behavior changes, and report concerns promptly
- Assist with mobility and transfers using safe techniques to protect residents and staff
- Support mealtime, hydration, and feeding needs with dignity and respect
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and facility protocols
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and the care team to deliver consistent, high-quality care
- Promote resident independence and encourage social engagement and comfort
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting physical and emotional needs
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction from nursing leadership
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of resident hygiene, ADLs, and basic bedside care
- Skill in safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
- Ability to accurately observe and document resident status and changes
- Good communication and teamwork skills; respectful bedside manner
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe PPE use
- Basic time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
