Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and safe transfers
- Take and record vital signs and observe residents for changes in condition
- Support a warm, dignified environment by promoting independence and respect
- Communicate clearly with nurses, families and the care team to ensure continuity of care
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the facility’s records
- Participate in routine safety and infection control practices to protect residents
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you’re the certified pro our residents rely on
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfort working with older adults and assisting with activities of daily living
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Successful background check and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered assistance
- Ability to take and record vitals, observe changes, and report effectively
- Skilled in safe resident handling, transfers and use of assistive devices
- Familiarity with documentation practices and basic charting
- Good interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents and families
