Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Support mobility, restorative programs, and social engagement activities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and communicate respectfully with families
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) or equivalent state certification/registry
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtain upon hire
- High school diploma or equivalent (see Education section)
- Demonstrated compassion, reliability, and ability to work well on a team
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused care
- Skilled in ADLs, basic vital signs, and infection control practices
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic documentation/charting skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and provide safe, respectful care
