Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and help maintain their dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe transfers and mobility assistance using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe and document resident condition changes, reporting concerns to the nursing team promptly
- Help with meal service and ensure residents receive appropriate assistance during dining
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents
- Communicate empathetically with residents and families to build trust and ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, compassionate approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or equivalent state-recognized credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with activities of daily living and safe resident handling
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Familiarity with infection control practices and proper PPE use
- Good documentation habits and clear communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy long-term care environment
