Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate peri-procedural nursing care in an outpatient surgical setting
- Assist the procedural GI team during endoscopic and related procedures
- Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs pre-, intra-, and post-procedure
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care, interventions, and patient education
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and tech staff to ensure efficient patient flow
- Uphold strict infection control and sterile technique standards in the OR/PR environment
- Educate patients and families on procedure expectations, recovery, and discharge instructions
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and contribute to a culture of patient safety
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted RN license (must be valid for practice in Connecticut)
- Procedural GI experience required — comfortable in endoscopy/procedural settings
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- Comfortable working in an outpatient surgical center (OR/PR experience helpful)
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of GI procedural workflows and peri-procedural nursing
- Proficiency with sterile technique and perioperative safety protocols
- Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient status quickly
- Good documentation habits and comfort with electronic health records
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient education and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Time management and the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
