Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, treating each person with dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition, reporting changes to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention efforts, using proper body mechanics
- Document care activities accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans
- Create a warm environment by engaging residents in friendly conversation and meaningful activities
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings (TB test, etc.)
- Clear background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility
- Skill in taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Good documentation and time-management skills
- Comfortable working as part of a care team and following care plans
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
