Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility to promote comfort and dignity
- Provide compassionate bedside care and support to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition, including vital signs and behavior, to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely in the patient record to maintain continuity and compliance
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Support infection prevention practices and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
- Engage with residents and families with empathy and clear communication to foster trust and rapport
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification (current and in good standing; able to work in Maine)
- Completion of an accredited CNA program and current competency verification
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements (immunizations, TB screening, etc.)
- Comfort working in long-term care or similar settings; strong teamwork and communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of resident care, ADLs, transfers, and safe patient handling
- Basic vital sign assessment and recognition of common clinical changes
- Familiarity with infection control standards and proper PPE use
- Experience with charting and basic electronic health record entries
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with residents and families
