Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to protect residents and yourself
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to enhance quality of life
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean, secure environment
- Document care accurately and clearly so the care team stays informed and coordinated
- Collaborate with nurses and therapy staff to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification in good standing (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained promptly upon hire
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations, including dementia and mobility limitations
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Reliable attendance and the physical ability to assist residents safely
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certificate or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
- Basic infection control and safety practices
- Safe transfer and lifting techniques
- Ability to observe, record, and report resident behaviors and changes
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with residents
- Familiarity with electronic or paper documentation systems (comfortable learning EHRs)
