Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess individualized patient needs and develop clear, evidence-based care plans
• Implement and coordinate patient care, ensuring safe, timely interventions
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans to achieve the best outcomes
• Provide clinical leadership and guide the patient care team during your shift
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in the Cerner EMR
• Mentor and support junior staff and contribute to a culture of learning
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote patient safety
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required (Nursys must show Active Illinois/IL License)
• Minimum 3+ years of Med Surg nursing experience required
• Current American Heart Association BLS (required)
• ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of start
• Two supervisory reference forms with dates employed (required)
• Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius of facility (applicants within 50 miles are not eligible)
• Applicants who were direct employees of the facility within the last 2 years are not eligible

Education

• Active RN license (Illinois) — implies completion of accredited nursing education (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med Surg clinical skills: patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Clinical leadership and team coordination on shift
• Experience with Cerner EMR for accurate charting and handoffs
• Ability to manage multiple patients safely in a busy acute-care environment
• Solid critical thinking, prioritization, and communication skills
• Supervisory experience and comfort providing mentorship and clinical direction
