Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately using ESI guidelines
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care for trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, behavioral health and other high-acuity presentations
• Perform critical procedures including IV insertion, EKGs, wound care, splinting and moderate sedation for procedures
• Assist with intubation, rapid sequence intubation (RSI), CPR and code response when needed
• Administer medications safely and document care thoroughly in Meditech
• Coordinate transport and escalate care for patients needing higher levels of treatment
• Maintain infection control and isolation protocols to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth, efficient patient flow

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience in a high-acuity setting
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (TNCC preferred)
• ENPC, CPI, and other required emergency certifications as listed
• Strong triage skills, critical thinking and ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients
• Experience with trauma, cardiac/STEMI, stroke and sepsis care
• Comfort with moderate sedation, intubation/RSI and code response
• Active RN license (appropriate state licensure or compact privileges preferred)
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing practices and fast-paced documentation
• Triage assessment using ESI triage guidelines
• IV insertion, medication administration and EKG interpretation
• Moderate sedation protocols and airway management (intubation/RSI)
• Trauma care, cardiac/STEMI pathways, stroke and sepsis management
• CPR and advanced life support interventions
• Infection control and isolation procedures
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical record a plus
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient-centered care skills
