Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends, varied 12-hour shifts. Typical day shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; other common start times include 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Rotating day and night coverage as scheduled

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a busy ED, managing patients across acuity levels
- Perform rapid triage and stabilization, stepping into critical situations such as STEMI, stroke and trauma
- Lead and participate in resuscitations and emergency procedures using equipment like Lucas and Level 1 systems
- Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including charge RNs, flow coordinators and techs to keep the department moving
- Deliver pediatric emergency care when needed and apply PALS and ENPC-based practices
- Educate patients and families with compassion and clarity during high-stress encounters
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in Alaska (travel RN position)
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH, ENPC
- Comfortable with EPIC electronic medical record
- Experience with stroke and STEMI processes preferred
- Able to work rotating shifts including weekends and varied start times
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing expertise including triage, critical care and fast-paced decision making
- Familiarity with ED equipment: Lucas, Alaris IV pumps, i-STAT, EPOC and GE monitors
- Skill in splinting, breathing treatments and common ED procedures
- Comfort managing typical ED patient ratios (generally 4:1, up to 6:1 for low acuity)
- Strong communication, teamwork and flow management skills in a dynamic environment
- Ability to prioritize, stay calm under pressure and mentor less experienced staff
