Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful care to older adults, helping them maintain dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Document care and resident interactions accurately and promptly
• Support safe mobility and use proper body mechanics when assisting with transfers
• Communicate clearly with residents, families and the care team to coordinate great care
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• State registration or eligibility to work in Maryland as a GNA
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
• Comfort working overnight hours and supporting a geriatric population
• Strong communication skills, professionalism and a team-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of elder care principles and common geriatric conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Familiarity with vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
• Proficient in clear, timely documentation and handoff communication
• Understanding of infection prevention and safety protocols
• Empathy, patience and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
