Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate psychiatric nursing care across the lifespan using the nursing process: assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate
• Coordinate and direct nursing care based on standards of practice to achieve the best patient outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and interpret basic EKGs as needed
• Document patient care clearly, accurately, and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and cost-effective care
• Provide patient, family, and caregiver education with cultural sensitivity
• Supervise and mentor Psychiatric Technicians on duty to maintain a high standard of care
• Serve as a clinical resource and respond appropriately in emergent or complex situations

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska in good standing
• Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution
• Current BLS certification required
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse
• Ability to pass and maintain required competencies and position-specific screenings
• Comfortable with independent decision-making and flexible scheduling
• Basic EKG skills and medication administration experience

Education

• Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing assessment, care planning, care implementation, and care evaluation
• Medication administration and basic EKG interpretation
• Strong documentation practices and medical terminology
• Care management, continuity of care, and nursing process theory
• Cultural competency for working with diverse patient populations
• Basic computer and office equipment skills
• Effective oral and written communication and collaboration with teams
• Supervisory skills for overseeing Psychiatric Technicians
