Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care within the scope of LPN practice
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
- Perform focused patient assessments and report changes to the care team
- Support stroke-related assessments including NIHSS as required by the unit
- Complete required competency checklists and participate in Trinity specialty testing
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transitions of care
- Maintain up-to-date license/certificate verification and required health screenings
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
Qualifications
- Current LPN license in good standing (Iowa licensure required if working in IA)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- NIHSS competency or certification (per unit requirements)
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Successful license/certificate verification and background screening
- Current immunizations and health requirements: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon)
- Fit test, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, physical/health statement and color vision as required
- Comfort working variable per diem shifts and ability to travel to assignments
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN/LVN diploma or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid clinical nursing fundamentals and medication administration skills
- Familiarity with NIHSS and stroke patient assessment
- Strong documentation and charting practices
- Competency with Trinity-specific skill checklists and specialty testing
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and respond calmly in urgent situations
- Attention to detail for license/certificate and credentialing requirements
