Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize lifesaving care
• Administer evidence-based interventions (ACLS/PALS/BLS protocols) for cardiac, pediatric, and adult emergencies
• Perform focused trauma and stroke assessments using TNCC and NIHSS tools when indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation and support bedside handoffs for continuity of care
• Demonstrate and maintain competency through Trinity Skills and Specialty Specific testing
• Support patient- and family-centered communication during high-stress situations with empathy and clarity
• Participate in license/certificate verifications and required health screenings to meet facility standards

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (ability to obtain Iowa licensure prior to start is required)
• Minimum certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC — NIHSS competency for stroke assessment
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Must pass background checks, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, and required occupational health screenings
• Current immunizations and health requirements: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine, and 2-step PPD or IGRA
• Fit test and a completed physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing skills: rapid assessment, triage, and critical thinking
• Trauma management fundamentals consistent with TNCC principles
• Stroke assessment skillset using NIHSS
• Proficiency in ACLS/PALS/BLS algorithms and rapid intervention
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and team collaboration
• Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to policy/procedures
