Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and infusion therapies safely and accurately
- Provide compassionate supportive care and patient education throughout treatment
- Assess and monitor oncology patients for treatment response and adverse effects
- Collaborate closely with oncology providers and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document care thoroughly and follow institution policies for chemotherapy administration
- Maintain infection control, medication safety, and infusion pump competency
- Adapt to acuity-based staffing and contribute to a high-performing unit culture
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with relevant oncology/infusion experience
- BLS certification required
- ONS or ANCC oncology certification preferred
- Comfortable administering chemotherapy and managing infusion therapies
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
- Ability to meet Regional West performance expectations; travelers not meeting expectations may have contract termination
Knowledge & Skills
- Chemotherapy administration protocols and safety standards
- Infusion pump operation and troubleshooting
- Oncology supportive care practices (antiemetics, growth factors, symptom management)
- Patient assessment, triage, and recognition of infusion reactions
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients and providers
- Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to policy
