Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify integrity and expiration dates of sterile supplies and maintain a safe inventory
• Prepare patients and equipment using strict sterile technique prior to procedures
• Assist in cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures, including TAVR and left atrial appendage closure
• Monitor and accurately record procedural data and maintain event logs
• Apply necessary monitors and prepare access sites with appropriate sterile draping
• Scrub into procedures using aseptic technique to prevent infection
• Advocate for radiation safety by wearing dosimetry, minimizing exposure, and documenting fluoroscopy time and doses
• Prepare post-procedure equipment and supplies for sterilization and proper reprocessing
• Provide patient comfort and explain equipment and procedure steps in a reassuring way

Qualifications

• ARRT (R) required — certified and ready to work in the cath/IR environment
• BLS required
• Graduate of an accredited radiology program (required)
• Experience with cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, fluoroscopy and radiation safety (preferred)
• Comfortable with on-call rotations, weeknight and weekend coverage
• Strong procedural documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and tech teams

Education

• Graduate of accredited radiology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology (IR) procedures
• Sterile technique and sterilization processes
• Patient preparation and patient monitoring during invasive procedures
• Fluoroscopy operation and radiation safety practices
• Procedural documentation and event log maintenance
• Electrophysiology, TAVR and left atrial appendage closure familiarity (preferred)
• Comfortable working in fast-paced cath lab and trauma center environments
