Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for Transitional Care Unit patients
• Perform and manage specialized clinical tasks such as tube feedings, NG/G-tube care, tracheostomy care, chest tube care, and PICC/Port management
• Document patient care accurately and promptly using Meditech EMR
• Utilize unit equipment (Pyxis, wound VAC, etc.) safely and proficiently
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized care plans
• Float to Med-Surg and Surgical Pediatrics when needed to support unit staffing and continuity of care
• Adhere to facility policies, maintain professional nursing attire, and complete required orientation and department training

Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by assignment start date
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS not required for the unit but may be requested by some agencies; ACLS is a plus
• 2 to 10 years of relevant nursing experience (Transitional Care Unit, Med-Surg, or similar preferred)
• Proof of seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to contract start
• Ability to work varied shift lengths and days, and to float when necessary
• Professional communication skills and commitment to patient safety

Knowledge & Skills

• Transitional Care Unit (TCU) nursing and patient care best practices
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
• Experience with Pyxis medication systems and unit-specific equipment
• Skilled in wound VAC, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Tube feeding, NG/G-tube care, and PICC/Port management
• Ability to manage caseloads in a 32-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills
