Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the circulator and surgeon during procedures by preparing instruments and supplies
• Maintain a safe, sterile field and adhere to strict sterile technique standards
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs to keep cases efficient and patient-centered
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and transferring to ensure safety and comfort
• Support compliance with state and federal regulations and hospital policies
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly when called to duty
• Document perioperative care and communicate handoffs clearly with the care team

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Prior OR experience or demonstrated competency in sterile technique and surgical assisting
• Ability to work on-call shifts and adapt to varied schedule needs
• Strong teamwork, communication, and commitment to patient safety

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent clinical training
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and maintaining the sterile field
• Familiarity with common operating room procedures and instrumentation
• Patient safety and perioperative care practices
• Ability to assist the circulator and act as an effective surgical team member
• Understanding of regulatory compliance and documentation expectations
