Shift Type: Primarily day shifts, 8-hour shifts (exact start/end vary with OR schedule); typical workweek is 40 hours with schedule determined by OR case load; includes on-call rotation and occasional holiday coverage

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by assembling surgical instruments, supplies and equipment — make every case run smoothly
- Maintain aseptic and sterile technique to protect patients and the surgical field
- Support PACU and Day Surgery areas with patient care and safe turnover
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned areas following department procedures
- Complete clerical or administrative duties related to the department as requested
- Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses and support staff to ensure coordinated care
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making consistent with Surgical Technologist responsibilities
Qualifications
- Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (required)
- Active Washington state license (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- Minimum one year hospital surgical experience preferred
- Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent experience
- Ability to work calmly and skillfully under pressure and alongside many different physicians
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role (lifting, pushing/pulling stretchers as described by the employer)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
- Operating Room (OR) support and room turnover
- Patient care fundamentals for PACU and Day Surgery
- Basic clerical/administrative skills for departmental documentation
- Strong teamwork, communication and situational awareness
